Lost Snowman

With The Journey of the Lost Snowman I try to visualize emotions about certain situations. Longing, insecurity, fear, freedom and others will accompany the snowman on his journey.

The images are designed exclusively for FineArt-Print (rendering density 300dpi or 600dpi (VI and VII) and .tif file format).

Image description:

longing

The longing for change, classically represented by the view of the sea, is the subject of this picture. The rocks in the foreground symbolically form the "stony path" to convince yourself (or others) of necessary changes and to take the first steps. At the end of the rocks there is no more bottom underfoot (recognizable by the different water structure, which here represents the shoals), so that unknown depths have to be swum on the way to new ones. The ship symbolizes the possibility of finding help and support after major efforts in order to cope with the further change process together.

Upon a rocky shore,

at sunset's hour,

A snowman stands,

his heart bereft of p ower.

He yearns for change,

his destiny untold,

As waves caress the shore,

so vast and bold.

With wistful eyes,

he gazes out to sea,

A sailing ship,

a symbol of what could be.

Oh, to transform his life,

to break the mold,

And leave behind the

stillness in the cold.

But as the ship sails on,

his dream takes flight,

A lonely snowman,

bound by frost each night.

Yet in his heart,

a spark of hope remains,

That life can change,

despite the icy chains.

history of creation

"Coast" was the next step in the surface manipulation journey after trying out the material design in creating "Stone Desert". After I was clear about how I wanted to implement the topic, the design of the water surfaces and the effect of the atmosphere were the main problem. In 2012 I put the picture aside for the first time ...

In 2015, I had just put "Visitors" aside because I couldn't get any further with it, I tried again to get the sea and the atmosphere to play together ... and suddenly everything was very easy.

When it was finished in 2016, I was then able to print the image on "brushed aluminum plate". The effect of the composition on metal knocked me off my feet, so that to this day I only print this picture on metal plate.

In 2022, I needed the image in a larger format, I found that I couldn't easily re-render the image due to software updates.

All materials and surfaces were then revised without taking away their existing character. The aspect ratio has been changed from 16:10 to 72:25 (Cinerama), the camera settings have been changed and the viewer's position has been adjusted.

Image printed on metal plate in the original version (2016).
